VOLUNTEER
FAQs

Do I need prior emergency response experience to join Perryville?

No prior experience is necessary! Perryville Fire Company provides training and gear at no cost to our volunteer firefighters, EMTs, and fire police.

Are there age requirements?

All volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

Junior firefighters can train and earn certification at 16. At age 18, they become full members of the Community Fire Company of Perryville.

There is no upper age limit for any volunteer position.

Is Perryville Fire Company 100 percent volunteer?

All Perryville firefighters and many of our EMTs are volunteers. We have also hired some career EMTs, who are paid, so that we can meet the community’s needs for emergency medical care and transport.  Whether volunteer or career, all members of Perryville Fire Company work together as part of the same team!

I want to serve my community, but do I have to go into a fire?

No! We rely on our non-emergency volunteers to help at community events like Boo Fest and , fundraising, administrative tasks, vehicle and station maintenance, and much more! Whatever your skill set and interests, we need your help!

There is nothing more rewarding than saving a life.
